Once the changes have been made right-click on the partition that's just been resized and select Manage Flags.

Nothing has changed yet - to commit the changes to the partition click Apply.

Once you're happy with the settings, click Resize/Move.

Next simply use the slider to allocate enough space for Windows Vista (allow at least 8GB).

Work your way through the keyboard and language settings of GParted and then once the GUI is loaded right-click on the main partition (the partition onto which Linux is currently installed, probably /dev/sda1) and choose Resize/Move.

During boot up select the auto-configuration boot option.

OK, apart from a PC with Linux installed on it, you'll need a Windows Vista disc and a GParted Live CD, or you can use the GNOME Partition Editor system application already installed with the Linux distro. Installing Vista onto a system that already has a Linux distro installed (say, for example, Ubuntu) isn't difficult as such, but it certainly is more complicated than adding a Linux partition to a drive with Windows on it.

There are instructions on how to manually set grub into the Mint partition ( so that EasyBCD can find it ) somewhere in these forums but those instructions are for Grub1. I have used EasyBCD on other peoples machines but not my own and it's been a while, so I don't know how well EasyBCD can accommodate grub2. Some third party bootloaders can't handle grub2 ( GAG, for instance ), but some can ( luckily for me, BootITNG can ). The second problem you may have is EasyBCD's compatibility with grub2 itself. When you installed EasyBCD it reclaimed the MBR and erased the Mnt8 grub, that's why it can't find Mint. Then when EasyBCD asks you where Mint is, you point it to that partition. You want to install grub into the partition that you installed Mint itself.

In step 8 of the Mint install process there's an 'Advanced' button that will lead you to a utility that will ask you where you want to install grub. If you do the standard install and accept all defaults Mint8 will install grub into the MBR ( master boot record ) and that's not what you want. EasyBCD made it even easier but you had to install Mint8 differently than the default way. Vista actually made that simpler when they changed the boot mechanism to BCD. You could always boot into a linux partition from the Windows bootloader but it wasn't easy.
